The search for land begins!
After years of looking at possible locations for a track around New Zealand, Tony Roberts and Chris Watson turned their attention to the North Waikato with an ambition to build a state of the art circuit and facilities. The directors said: “It seemed an ideal location in many ways with few residential sites nearby, near the already established Drag way (so there was some history of motorsport in the area), and with easy access off State Highway One.” On finding a farm that was already for sale at Hampton Downs, it was found that adjacent land was also possible to be purchased from Envirowaste, so the combined 400 acres was all purchased on the same day in December 2003.
